About the book

About the book

Set on the green and beautiful Greek island of Corfu, when tourism transforms a fishing village, old hatreds, envy and greed threaten to tear the local community apart. Behind the scenes personal demons fuel division while guardian angels battle to neutralize their influence.

Follow the action as hotelier Jason, planning to get rich, ruthlessly chases his goal, unaware of the trouble and danger he is stirring up. Three visitors from Ireland, America and Wales bring their own problems. Clare, running from a broken relationship, is drawn into a love-triangle with Jason. Aeron, battling a mid-life crisis is closer to despair than he realizes. While Bethany, jolted by a Big Birthday into doing a Shirley Valentine, is hoping it will sort her life out.

As the sizzling summer unfolds each faces make-or-break challenges. Extra help is at hand though, with the arrival of Gabriela, angel of Greece. When meddling demons prevail and smouldering greed and vengeance reach flashpoint, can she avert disaster?

The first four endorsements appear in the book! The other reviews I am sharing with you were written in various places such as Amazon in the US and UK, and other websites, or sent to me personally. As writing and polishing this novel was such a lot of work I take delight in the appreciation of those facets! I am so grateful when you take the time and effort to give me feedback on my work.

Angel at the Paradise Hotel is an inspiring, touching and moving novel for the ages, generating faith, optimism and, above all, hope. A very enjoyable read, which I highly recommend!

Teresa's highly inspirational and illuminating debut novel is full of intrigue, heart, depth and meaning, sprinkled with an array of colourful, identifiable characters. A guaranteed page-turner, which has tremendous potential for adaptation to the silver screen.

Take this book down to the beach in the morning, and I guarantee when you return sunburnt to your room at the end of the day you will see no one around you, from waiters to fellow holidaymakers, in the same way. The characters seeking escape amidst the idyllic beauty of Corfu never manage to shake off the problems they have run from, while O’Driscoll beautifully captures the intrigues of a tightly knit traditional Greek community.

With Teresa’s artistic skill in painting the exotic island of Corfu, its beautiful setting seems ideal for a gentle story of romance with a happy ever after ending. But there are forces of light and darkness at work and the arrival of angel Gabriella is key to a great adventure which challenges the reader to choose sides.

5 out of 5 stars

One summer in the charming resort town of Korkyra, on the dazzling island of Corfu, was life-changing for several residents and tourists. The character development of the close knit community members, as well as the visitors who have a variety of reasons for summering in the town, is outstanding. The uncertainty of choices characters will make adds an intriguing element to the story. An extraordinary tale, with unforgettable characters – a great read!

Set in Corfu, this book would be a good escapist holiday read. I've been to Corfu a few times, and was transported there as I read.

I found the inclusion of angels interesting, and they added an urgency to the book, revealing characters' inner thoughts and dilemmas.

This is a book about community, and the author cleverly weaves together individual stories, each with their own joys and heartbreaks. The characters are authentic, and I found myself drawn to each, wanting to know what would happen to them.

Angel at the Paradise Hotel is a novel that keeps the pages turning!

From the opening scene of the Angel Gabriella’s trademark landing on the beach, this book captivated me. There are hosts of wonderful characters and even difficult demons that Gabriella has to deal with. It is always a spiritual battle between good and evil. She often helped and advised people’s guardian angels. The trouble is, will they listen to their guardians or their demons? Teresa O’Driscoll managed to weave a beautifully crafted romantic story with the angelic love of God. Highly recommended book.

This book is a delight. I’ve never seen anything like what’s featured in this simple book. Teresa’s writing style is as if she was talking right to me. As an American, I loved her Welsh phrases. They added to the overall sweetness of this book. All in all, reading this book brought me closer to the God I love so much.

An angelic yet very human story

Now I can say I have been to Greece and met angels.

I love books that offer glimpses of the invisible world and the "war" around us and among us. It goes beyond the obvious and it stirred my imagination.

A beautiful story in a beautiful location.

The story was sweet with a touch of bitter and ultimately left me feeling lighter and with a feeling of hope.

‘Angel at the Paradise Hotel’ is a unique read. It has a hooking prologue and flash back that reminisces the Lockdown era of 2020! It is well written and the dialogues and characters are so realistic. The story covers themes of self-appraisal, complicated relationships, death, love, faith, marriage, money, angels and holiday. There is something for everyone here. There are quite a number of characters but all are beautifully linked and interwoven in the story. It was a thrilling experience to read how the author devised the activities of angels in a close network with each other and the characters.  ‘All the angels tried their best…’ The author has a strong voice through Gabriella. For example, ‘The thing about dreams…you can choose a different one…’ ‘Do not give up on writing, no matter what.’ This question got me thinking: If you could do anything at all in your life, what would it be? Find out how this was answered.  Bethany and Jason meet the angel, but when and how - I leave you to find out!

A very interesting read worth its 5 stars!

The setting may be idyllic but each person still wrestles with problems, and the tight-knit local community are not always happy to see the tourists – even though they are a lifeline financially. Then there is a whole other dimension – each person has a demon and an angel assigned to them and we are kept abreast of all discussions and activities within their sphere. I did find myself eager to learn what happened (and I was very relieved there was no sugary sweet, neatly tied-up endings for the characters). I also enjoyed the character development and felt that was done well.

The book did also remind me, and make me think more deeply about how vital and life-changing our short ‘arrow’ prayers for ourselves and others can be.
